CHW has a fully constituted Board of Trustees, with expertise in public health, health system performance evaluation, change management, information systems and community engagement.

DR HUMPHREY MAPURANGA

Chairperson of the Board of Trustess
Humphrey Mapuranga 35 years of age is a holder of Bachelors of Medicine & Surgery (MBChB), a qualification he obtained at the University Of Zimbabwe School Of Medicine in 2003. He went on to practise as an intern at the country’s busiest referral hospital i.e. Harare Central Hospital located right in the capital city. He worked in virtually all the major disciplines in the field of health. He later specialized in the Accidents and Emergency sections of the hospital. He later enrolled for a Master of Business Administration with Open Learning Centre which he completed in 2007. This saw him gain critical competence in managing health delivery in institutions of health. He was soon approached by a Social Security Authority in Zimbabwe to serve as Medical Advisor before he embarked on yet another speciality qualification M.Sc in Occupational Safety & Health with the Turin School of Development in Italy.He is currently offering specialist primary health care advice to the National Social Security Authority of Zimbabwe.
In total, he has amassed over 12 years of service in the health-care sector in various capacities all of which were at senior level. On the international front, he was nominated by the country to participate in various committees of experts at the ILO Level in the period 2009 and 2010. He represented the Zimbabwean government in international deliberations that gave birth to an ILO instrument referred to as The Recommendation Concerning HIV & AIDS and the World of Work (R200). The instrument has since been adopted and is being used as an international guiding document in fighting the scourge of the AIDS pandemic. Within his current portfolio of work schedules, he interacts with a number of key stakeholders namely,

  • Ministry of Health & Child Care,
  • Ministry of Public Service Labour & Social Welfare,
  • Civic Society Organisations,
  • The ILO.
He is very passionate about ensuring equitable and efficient health-care delivery in Zimbabwe and welcomes every opportunity possible to bridge this yawning gap in developing countries.

TINASHE P. MUKADZAMBO

Tinashe is a qualified chartered certified accountant who served his articles with EY (formerly Ernst and Young).He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting and completed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Professional qualification. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with the University of Zimbabwe.
Subsequent to qualifying; he worked for a listed engineering group as its Group Finance Executive and Company Secretary for three years. After that he was the Chief Finance Officer of a food processing and retailing company for a year, before leaving to form UNATI Consultancy for which he is the current Managing Consultant. Tinashe’s experience inter alia ranges from operations, audit, advisory, tax, treasury management, financial accounting, cost and management accounting, corporate governance, company secretarial, strategic planning and implementation, resource mobilisation, corporate social responsibility, sustainable reporting, human resources, general administration and training and facilitation.
A keen choral music singer, soccer and cricket follower, he sits on the following Boards:

  • Media Monitoring Project Zimbabwe (MMPZ) Board of Trustees
  • Dominican Sisters Lifelines Trust Advisory Board
  • St Ignatius College Board of Governors
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) New Membership Category Committee.
  • Roman Catholic Cathedral Harare Finance Committee.
MICHELLE HAKATA

Michelle Hakata’s background is in media and communications. She has have over 20 years experience working in communications, public affairs and development. She has worked in private sector development, developing media and communication strategies in consultation with African governments and multinationals with significant operations in Africa. She has also been involved in developing human rights public education campaigns, corporate social responsibility strategies and implementing communications strategies for corporates, state entities and non-governmental organisations. She has also worked with diaspora groups and private sector organisations coordinating a series of campaigns, developing social media strategies for politics and business. She is an experienced conference producer having organised regional and international events and skills programmes.
Much of her experience was gained in the United Kingdom where she worked for 13 years and in various Sub Saharan African countries. She has also developed curricula and provided input for leadership training, media and communications training, training on peace building and conflict prevention, social research and training in gender mainstreaming.

DR JULIUS MUGWAGWA

Dr Julius Mugwagwa is an ‘applied academic’, a life science enthusiast, with a firm belief that if effectively harnessed and governed, new life sciences can help alleviate Africa’s health and food security challenges. He studied for a BSc (Honours) Degree in Biological Sciences, an MSc in Biotechnology and an MBA degree at the University of Zimbabwe, before attaining a PhD degree in Science, Technology and Innovation at the UK Open University’s Dept. of Engineering and Innovation and ESRC Centre for Research on Innovations in Genomics (INNOGEN) in 2008. In Zimbabwe, Julius worked for the Central Veterinary Laboratory, CAPS (Pvt) Ltd and the Biotechnology Trust of Zimbabwe. Since completing his PhD, Julius has been a recipient of two prestigious UK research awards; a two-year early career research fellowship from the Leverhulme Trust (2009 – 2011) and currently (2012 to 2015), a UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Future Research Leaders Fellowship, (http://www.esrc.ac.uk/my-esrc/grants/ES.K001442.1/read) and has published 13 peer-reviewed journal articles, 5 book chapters and 1 book; in addition to numerous presentations in conferences and workshops in Africa, Europe and other parts of the world (http://dpp.open.ac.uk/people/julius-mugwagwa). Among his recent intellectual contributions are the notions of ‘policy kinetics’ and ‘policy gridlocks’ as lenses for analysing policy processes.

PETRONELLA  NYAMAPFENE  NEE NENJERAMA

A registered legal practitioner who is currently practicing in Zimbabwe .In terms of Education I am a holder of a Bachelors Degree in Law which was obtained at the University of Zimbabwe in the year 2001, an MSc in International Relations from the University of Zimbabwe (2006) and a Masters in Women’s Law from the Women’s Law Centre in (2012 July)
Worked as a  practicing legal practitioner for two years and  has been in the civic society for the past 9 years wherein I  am working  as the Director for Justice for Children wherein I have been involved in the development of the organizations strategic planning ,overseeing implementation of programs ,networking ,development of partnerships and  fundraising .It is as a result of my involvement in the organisation that I have participated in the development and review of various structures of the Zimbabwe Justice system which include the family court, the victim friendly system, the Pretrial diversion and the Justice for children Sector Analysis. In addition I have participated in the development of laws and policies that have a bearing on child protection and monitoring their implementation whilst playing a part in ensuring that some of the outdated laws are reviewed. Besides civic society I have contributed in the academic field as a Part time lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe wherein I lectured a Masters in International Law for one year.
Been a Board member for Africa Community Publishing (ACPD 2009-2012) and wherein I was advising on Children’s issues and also legal issues .Currently serving as a Council Member overseeing the implementation of the Domestic Violence Act and in this case I am representing children’s issues and also represent Justice for children as the current Chair of the Child Protection Coalition. She has also participated in the mentoring of various CBOS and FBOS in particular on issues of fundraising and governance
